Estimation of leaf nitrogen content from nondestructive methods in Eucalyptus tereticornis and Eucalyptus saligna plantations

چکیده

The determination of leaf nitrogen content (LNC) by indirect methods is essential for silvicultural management forest crops. application photography or rapid measurement equipment, such as chlorophyll index (soil-plant analysis development-SPAD), increasingly used due to its low-cost, ease estimation and accuracy. Therefore, the aim this study was estimate foliar from nondestructive in plantations Eucalyptus tereticornis saligna using three urea treatments (120 kg N ha-1, 240 ha-1 a control treatment without urea). For each treatment, 10 trees were selected, including four validation equations. LNC directly evaluated color with CIEL*a*b* model, photographic RGB SPAD destructive leaves. results showed negative relationships L* (luminosity) b* (trend yellow green) indices, while a* (red green trend) discarded, positive found space. In R B greatest found. It determined that multivariate equation Y=a+b1x1+b2x2+…+bnxn can be type study. also LNC=0.389+0.026SPAD model optimum E. LNC=3.826-0.001R-0.10B saligna.

Nitrogen-Fixing Bacteria in Eucalyptus globulus Plantations

Eucalypt cultivation is an important economic activity worldwide. In Portugal, Eucalyptus globulus plantations account for one-third of the total forested area. The nutritional requirements of this crop have been well studied, and nitrogen (N) is one of the most important elements required for vegetal growth. N dynamics in soils are influenced by microorganisms, such as diazotrophic bacteria (D...

Mycosphaerella species causing leaf disease in South African Eucalyptus plantations.

Commercial Eucalyptus plantations provide an important source of hardwood for forestry industries, worldwide. Several species of Mycosphaerella are associated with a destructive Eucalyptus leaf disease known as Mycosphaerella Leaf Blotch (MLB). During 2000, a survey was undertaken in several commercial Eucalyptus growing areas of South Africa to determine the identity of the Mycosphaerella spp....

Photographic exposure affects indirect estimation of leaf area in plantations of Eucalyptus globulus Labill

Calibrations of indirect methods for estimating leaf area are usually based on small data sets and are often species-specific and may even be stand-specific. We used the Licor LAI-2000 plant canopy analyser (PCA) as a reference to calibrate leaf area measurements based on hemispherical photography. Ten stands of 6–8 year-old, plantation grown Tasmanian bluegum (Eucalyptus globulus Labill.) in W...

Species Discrimination, Population Structure and Linkage Disequilibrium in Eucalyptus camaldulensis and Eucalyptus tereticornis Using SSR Markers

Eucalyptus camaldulensis and E. tereticornis are closely related species commonly cultivated for pulp wood in many tropical countries including India. Understanding the genetic structure and linkage disequilibrium (LD) existing in these species is essential for the improvement of industrially important traits. Our goal was to evaluate the use of simple sequence repeat (SSR) loci for species dis...
